Though often so dominantly based on sound, communication can also be highly visual. We use dots to convey numbers, symbols to give instructions. We can tell a complete story with a series of lines. With the abstract assembly shapes, I want my work to highlight imagery of language beyond any given alphabet.

"I’ll never really understand how music happens. Somehow, people and instruments swap ideas and get a song out of it. If I’m lucky, those tracks get beeped and booped and transmitted to me. This collection is about the waves and signals that make the magic come out of my stereo."

HOLIDAY 2023

At the risk of sounding very Animal House, I had a cool time in college. When the leaves begin to fall, I get nostalgic for a time when I was so uncharacteristically social. This series is inspired by autumn weather in a university town and all the places where we gather there.

JUNE 2023

My love of sharp lines may lead you to believe that I love to plan and measure, but it’s quite the opposite. Instead, the fun for me is all in improvisation. Each phase of the process is in communication with the previous one.

It all starts with the yarn, which tells me what colors to weave together. The weavings then declare how they want to be combined and stitched. The paint joins the conversation to emphasize the textiles. The materials are talking and the colors are singing and the whole thing is a soundtrack to a jazzy good time.
